Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks moved sharply lower during trading on Thursday following the rally seen on Wednesday. The major averages more than offset yesterdays gains but remain well off last Fridays lows. The Dow plunged 3.6 percent to 26121 and the Nasdaq tumbled 3.1 percent to 8738.

UK stocks tumbled on Thursday as the global death toll from the coronavirus rose to over 3000 with more than 95000 infected. The benchmark FTSE 100 was down by 1.1 per cent to 6740.

On domestic front Indian shares ended off their days highs on Thursday as investors fretted about rising coronavirus cases in the country. The benchmark BSE Sensex was up by 0.2 percent to 38471.
