Indian markets are likely to open flat and may trade in red tracking SGX Nifty &
Asian markets.
After initially showing a lack of direction, US markets moved moderately lower over
the course of the trading session on Thursday. The Dow closed lower for the fifth
consecutive session, falling to its lowest closing level in over a month. The weakness
on Wall Street was partly due to uncertainty about President-elect Donald Trump’s
policies ahead of his inauguration on Friday.
The European markets fluctuated between small gains and losses over the course of
Thursday’s session before closing modestly lower. The markets pared their early
losses after announcement from the European Central Bank. However, early
weakness on Wall Street hampered their recovery attempt.
Indian markets once again ended with modest gains on Thursday in a choppy
session as investors remained optimistic of upbeat corporate earnings results.
