Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks turned in a relatively lackluster performance during trading on Tuesday but managed to end the day modestly higher. With the uptick on the day the major averages once again reached new record closing highs. The Dow edged up 0.1 percent to 28267 and Nasdaq inched up 0.1 percent to 8823.

UK stocks were marginally higher on Tuesday and the pound softened after ITV News reported that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was taking a hard line on Britains transition period for leaving the European Union. The FTSE 100 increased by 0.1 per cent to 7522.

On domestic front Indian shares hit fresh record highs on Tuesday with metal companies among the biggest gainers after U.S. President Donald Trump said the phase one deal with China is nearly complete. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 1.1 per cent to 41352.
