US stocks continued to show a lack of direction over the course of the trading day on Wednesday following the lackluster performance seen in the previous session. Eventually the major averages ended the day mixed with the Dow inching up to a new record closing high. The Dow rose 0.2 percent to 31438 while the Nasdaq fell 0.3 percent to 13973.

U.K stocks were moving higher on Wednesday as a slew of positive corporate results helped outweigh concerns over a further mutation of the socalled Kent variant. The benchmark FTSE 100 inched up 0.1 percent to 6538.

Indian shares ended a choppy session on a flat note yesterday as investors reacted to positive global cues and reports of NSEs crackdown on funding from NBFCs. The benchmark BSE Sensex was almost flat at 51309.
