VA Tech WABAG Secures Repeat Order for Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tunisia

On May 7, 2024, VA Tech WABAG informed the stock exchanges that the company had secured a repeat order from Office National De L’assainissement (ONAS). The consortium order from ONAS is for the Design, Build, Operate (DBO) of a 36 MLD Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) worth approximately 114.22 million Tunisian Dinars (around Euro 34 million) in Sousse Hamdoun II, Tunisia.

VA Tech WABAG has an outstanding track record with ONAS, which has been for about three decades. The company secured this repeat order with a technically superior and competitive bid, enhancing its presence in North Africa. The project is backed by the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Union (EU), and the European Investment Bank (BEI). It will be executed over a period of 24 months, followed by a 12-month Operation and Maintenance period.

The company stated that VA Tech WABAG’s scope under this order will be Engineering and Procurement (EP) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M), which is worth about half of the consortium order value. This includes the Design, Engineering, Supply, Installation, and Commissioning of the plant, followed by an operations and maintenance phase for a year.

WABAG will spearhead the project as the Consortium leader. Entreprise Gloulou Mohamed et Salem (EGMS) will serve as the consortium partner liable for all Civil Works associated with the project.
