On May 8, 2024, GTPL Hathway Limited informed the stock exchanges about the launch of Linear Television content on Connected TVs via TVKey Cloud, a joint solution developed by NAGRA and Samsung.

The company stated this is a significant milestone for them as it unlocks new opportunities for viewers to access linear content. The service is compatible with various Samsung Connected TVs, spanning models from 2023 and soon-to-be-launched 2024 editions, including Ultra HD, OLED, QLED, and NeoQLED. This broad compatibility extends the potential user base significantly.

GTPL Hathway added that secure access to linear content without a different set-top box has substantial benefits. Aligning with current viewer preferences, simplifying the viewing experience, and minimising clutter cater to the desire for streamlined and efficient entertainment setups. Getting access to content securely without extra hardware can save the consumer up to ₹2,000.

The integration of TVKey into GTPL’s services presents a new marketing avenue accessed through the consumer’s TV remote control. This integration enables GTPL subscribers to securely access premium content using TVKey’s distinctive on-chip security, guaranteeing robust content protection. Delivered through an immersive and captivating user interface, the solution solidifies GTPL as the default live TV source application.

Together, defined by NAGRA and Samsung, TVkey Cloud provides an instinctive user experience. Security is built into the connected TV chipset to guard long-term content investments.

Commenting on this milestone, the Managing Director of GTPL, Mr Anirudhsinh Jadeja, said, “With more consumers choosing to watch content through their connected TVs, GTPL’s addition of TVKey to deliver linear TV content offers consumers the convenience of complimenting linear TV services along with streaming services thus ensuring that maximum value is delivered to subscribers.”

He further added, “Our long-standing relationship with NAGRA has made this innovation possible and is central to our strategy of reaching subscribers in new ways with a consistent user experience across all devices. We look forward to working with Samsung on more collaborations which can add value to our consumers.”

The Executive Vice President and CMO at NAGRA, Nancy Goldberg, said, “We are looking forward to supporting GTPL with this latest addition to their service and together introduce TVkey to the Indian market. As GTPL continues to evolve its business to match changing consumer behaviours, TVkey Cloud is a proven solution to secure content and enable a sophisticated viewing.”

On May 8, 2024, the share price of GTPL Hathway Ltd opened at ₹170.05, touching the day’s high at ₹183.75, as of 10:47 AM on the NSE.
