History of Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited
Incorporated in 1985, Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited manufactures Urea and deals with Agri-inputs and other fertilisers. The company contributes about ~13% of the total Urea produced in India. They have 3 hi-tech nitrogenous fertiliser (Urea) plants in India, located at Gadepan in Kota, Rajasthan. The first one was established in 1994 and launched its flagship product ‘Uttam Veer Urea’. In 1997, the company made its first internal investment in a Joint Venture with the OCP Group in Morocco. In 1999, they set up their second plant. The 3 plants collectively possess an annual production capacity of about 3.4 million MT of Urea. They use state-of-the-art technology from Japan, Italy, Denmark, and the United States.
Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited serves the needs of farmers located in about 10 states in India. They are the major fertiliser supplier in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The company’s third plant, the Gadepan III plant, established in 2019, has strengthened its position as a major fertiliser manufacturer in the country. The company has a network of 15 regional offices, 50,000 retailers and 2,800 dealers.
The company offers a one-stop shop for all agricultural products. This allows farms to buy all their required items from a single source. They also achieved certifications like ISO 14001 (Environment Management System Standard), OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management System Standard).
