About APL Apollo Tubes

History

APL Apollo Tubes Limited (APL) is India’s largest and one of the most innovative producers of structural steel tubes and pipes. Headquartered in Delhi NCR, the company owns 11 manufacturing facilities along with warehouses and branch offices in over 20 cities. APL Apollo Tubes Ltd was incorporated on February 24, 1986 in Ghaziabad. In 1994-95, it commissioned a new galvanising plant and also received the ISI Certification. In the same year, it was also listed on the stock exchanges.

In 2001-02, the company commissioned a new tube mill and a modern Gallium mill. It also received the ISO 9001:2000 certification. In 2003-04, it developed in-house hollow sections across a wide range of sizes. It also became the first company in India to launch pre-galvanised pipes. 2009-10 was a year of expansion as the company commissioned multiple warehouses across India and also a new plant, in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

In 2013-14, the company launched door sections, window sections, and railing tubes and also procured CRFH Coils from JSW Steel to expand its product range. In 2015, it became the first company in India to achieve a capacity of 1 MTPA in steel pipe production. In 2016-17, it established India’s first-ever Direct Forming Technology Line in Hosur. It also set up greenfield facilities at Raipur and Chhattisgarh with Direct Forming Technology and was awarded patents for 6 product designs in the same year. In 2018-19, it entered the home improvement solutions segment involving designer tubes, electrical conduits, etc.

In 2019-20, the company achieved a 40% market share in terms of sales in the structural steel tubing industry. In 2021-22, it commissioned a second production plant at Raipur for value-added products, with a 1.4 MTPA capacity.

Business Segments

The company’s products can be categorised into the following segments:

  1. Apollo Structural – It is used for building structures, sheds, handrails, gates, fencing, balcony grills, staircases, light structures, etc. in residential and commercial buildings, independent homes, warehouses, metros, airports, stadiums, industrial and agricultural heavy equipment and factories. As per FY 2022 sales volume, it brings 55% of the revenue.
  2. Apollo Z – This includes galvanised structural steel tubes for residential and commercial buildings, warehouses and factories in coastal markets. As per FY 2022 sales volume, it brings 27% of the revenue.
  3. Apollo Tricoat – This is designed for door frames, staircase steps, furniture, planks, designer tubes, fencing, electrical conduits, etc., for residential and commercial buildings. As per FY 2022 sales volume, it brings 14% of the revenue.
  4. Apollo Galv – This includes galvanised greenhouse structures, plumbing, and fire-fighting applications used in commercial, industrial and agricultural structures.

As of FY 2023, 57% of its revenue comes from building materials for the housing sector, 22% for the commercial sector, 18% for infrastructure, and 3% for industrial and agricultural equipment. Around 2.8% of the revenue comes from the sale of scraps.

  1. Apollo Metalex Private Limited – It is a major pre-galvanised steel tube manufacturer and exporter in India.
  2. Blue Ocean Projects Private Limited – This company offers real estate services in India.
  3. APL Apollo Building Products Private Limited – This company is involved in the manufacture of basic precious and non-ferrous metals.

The other 3 include APL Apollo Mart Limited, APL Apollo Tubes Company LLC and APL Apollo Tubes FZE.
