Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks showed a lack of direction over the course of trading session on Tuesday. The major averages spent the day bouncing back and forth across the unchanged line although the Dow and the Nasdaq still crept up to new record closing highs. The Dow ticked up 0.1 percent to 27492 and the Nasdaq advanced 0.01 percent to 8434.

The UK stocks markets experienced choppy trade on Tuesday bouncing back and forth around the unchanged line before finally settling in the green for the third straight session. The FTSE 100 was up by 0.2 percent to 7369.

On domestic front Indian markets swung between gains and losses before ending slightly lower on Tuesday amid concerns the government will have a tough job maintaining its fiscal deficit target for the year. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 0.1 percent to 40248.
