Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks moved mostly lower during trading on Monday giving back some ground after trending higher over that past several sessions. The Dow and the SP 500 pulled back off the record closing highs set last Friday. The Dow fell 183.12 points or 0.6 percent to 28462 and the Nasdaq dropped 60.62 points or 0.7 percent to 8945.

UK stocks opened lower on Monday and the pound advanced as investors awaited the final details of a promised trade deal between the United States and China which is expected to be signed in January. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.3 per cent to 7625.

On domestic front Indian market finished little changed on Monday with banks and IT stocks pacing the decliners amid lack of any major domestic or global triggers. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 0.1 percent to 41558.
