Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

U.S. stocks came under pressure in afternoon trading yesterday. The major averages all pulled back sharply offsetting the strong gains posted in the previous session. The major averages climbed off their worst levels but still closed firmly in negative territory. The Dow and the Nasdaq tumbled by 0.9 percent each to 33816 and 13818 respectively.

U.K. stocks are roughly flat a little before noon on Thursday with investors largely making cautious moves looking for direction. Despite earnings hopes and data showing increased optimism of British manufacturers to highest level in almost five decades the mood in the market is cautious amid the possibility of shutdowns in several countries due to the relentless surge in coronavirus infections. The benchmark FTSE 100 rose by 0.6 percent to 6938.
