Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks initially showed a lack of direction but came under pressure over the course of the trading session on Friday. The major averages slid firmly into negative territory extending the pullback seen over the two previous sessions. The Dow slid 0.9 percent to 27657 and the Nasdaq tumbled 1.1 percent to 10793.

UK stocks struggled for direction on Friday after leading scientists advising the government have proposed a twoweek national lockdown in October to try to tackle the rising number of coronavirus cases. The FTSE 100 ended on a flat note at 6049.

On domestic front Indian shares gave up early gains to end lower on Friday marking a second straight day of declines. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 0.3 percent to 38845.
