Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

US stocks showed typical volatility on the heels of the Federal Reserves monetary policy announcement but managed to end Wednesdays trading mostly higher amid indications the central bank plans to cut interest rates sometime in the future. The Dow inched up by 0.2 per cent to 26504 and the Nasdaq edged up by 0.4 percent 7987.

U.K. stocks fell on Wednesday as a bearish note from HSBC following Lufthansas profit warning pulled down airline stocks. Betterthanexpected earnings from housebuilder Berkeley failed to boost sentiment. The FTSE 100 decreased by 0.4 percent to 7412.

On domestic front Indian shares rose slightly higher yesterday after a volatile trading session.
