Indian markets are likely to open positive tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks moved mostly lower over the course of the trading day on Thursday. With the drop on the day major averages staged a recovery attempt going into the close but remained stuck in the red. The Dow edged down by 0.5 percent to 27046 and the Nasdaq dipped by 0.1 percent to 8292.

The UK stocks fell yesterday as the pound strengthened and the latest batch of corporate earnings results disappointed. The FTSE 100 fell by 0.6 percent to 7288.
On domestic front Indian markets eked out modest gains on Thursday with banks and IT companies surging while commodityrelated metal stocks fell after the release of weak Chinese data and amid fresh doubts about whether the U.S. and China will be able to reach a comprehensive longterm trade deal.
The benchmark BSE Sensex inched up by 0.2 percent to 40129.
