US stocks moved notably higher during trading on Friday following the downturn seen over the course of the previous session. The upward move on the day lifted all three of the major averages to new record closing highs. The major averages gave back some ground going into the close but remained firmly positive. The Dow rose 0.6 percent to 24652. the Nasdaq spiked 1.2 percent to 6937 and the SP 500 climbed 0.9 percent to 2676.
UK stocks erased earlier losses to close higher on Friday boosted by a slide in the pound after EU leaders agreed to move on to the second phase of Brexit talks but warned the coming negotiations will be difficult. The FTSE 100 index rose 0.6% to end at 7491.
