Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US fluctuated over the course of the trading session on Thursday but largely maintained a positive bias. The advance on the day lifted the major averages to their best closing levels in a month. The Dow rose by 1.2 percent to 23719 and the Nasdaq moved up by 0.8 percent to 8154.

UK stocks rose on Thursday though markets came off from their days highs on fears over the devastating impact coronavirus could have on the economy. The U.K. death toll from the novel coronavirus rose to 6159. The FTSE 100 inched up by 0.2 percent to 5689.

On domestic front local markets were shut on Friday for Good Friday. On Thursday Indian shares posted strong gains on Thursday ahead of a long holiday weekend. Underlying sentiment remained supported somewhat on expectations of more central bank stimulus and amid optimism that coronavirus infections around the world are nearing a peak.
