Indian markets are likely to open negative tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

The US stocks fluctuated over the course of the trading session on Monday before eventually ending the session mixed. The Dow fell 0.5 percent to 24221 while the Nasdaq climbed 0.8 percent to 9192.

UK stocks edged lower on Monday after Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out new lockdown rules set to come into force in England this week. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.5 percent to 5906.

On domestic front Indian shares opened with strong gains on Monday before giving up all gains to end the session modestly lower dragged down by financials. The benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 0.3 per cent to 31561.
