Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

US stocks ended on a weak note on Monday after languishing in the red right through the session as investors stayed largely cautious assessing valuations and taking some profits. The Dow ended down 0.3 percent at 31009 and the Nasdaq settled at 13036 losing 1.25 percent.

U.K. stocks fell on Monday with miners and energy companies pacing the decliners as a stronger dollar weighed on community prices. The benchmark FTSE 100 fell by 0.6 per cent to 6835.

Indian shares ended yesterdays session on a buoyant note as TCS kickstarted the quarterly earnings season on an upbeat note and the government said it would roll out Covid19 vaccine in the country as early as January 16. Hopes of a greater stimulus package in the U.S. also offered some support. The benchmark SP BSE Sensex rallied by 1 per cent to 49269.
