Indian markets are likely to start off on a flat note today tracking SGX nifty and
ahead of the RBI policy.
The SP 500 ended barely higher on Tuesday while the Nasdaq managed to scratch
out a new record as gains in big tech names countered energy declines. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average also hit an intraday alltime high just after the market
opened and the benchmark SP 500 came close to yet another record high. The
Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.19 percent to 20090 while the SP 500
gained 0.02 percent to 2293.
The UK markets rose on Tuesday boosted by a weak sterling. The FTSE 100 ended
the session 0.2 percent higher at 7186 points while the British mid cap index closed
1 percent higher at a record closing level of 18560 points. Shares of oil major BP
were down more than 4% after the company said its 2016 profit slumped to the
lowest level in at least a decade to 2.59 billion.
