About Polycab India

History of Polycab India Limited 

Incorporated in 1996, Polycab India Limited is involved in the manufacturing of wires, cables and other Fast-Moving Electric Goods (FMEG) products, such as lighting, fans, luminaires, switches, switchgear and small domestic appliances. 

In 1983, the Jaisinghani family formed a partnership firm, Polycab Industries, to manufacture wires and cables. In 1996, they established Polycab Wires Private Limited in Mumbai. Later, in 2011, Polycab Industries amalgamated with Polycab Wires Private Limited. In 2018, the company’s name was changed to Polycab India Limited. In 2019, Polycab India Limited released its IPO and got listed on the NSE and BSE.  

As of March 2023, Polycab India Limited has 25 manufacturing units located in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Union Territory of Daman and Gujarat, and 23 warehouses and depots in India. They have more than 4,300 authorised distributors, and their products are available in more than 2,05,000 retail outlets. They even serve international customers in North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa.

The 3 primary business segments of the company are as follows:

  • Wires and Cables (W&C): This is the main business segment of the company. They manufacture and sell a wide range of wires and cables, such as energy cables, special cables and communication cables, Polycab wires and Etira wires. These are for both retail and industrial purposes. They serve a comprehensive range of customers across various industries. 
  • FMEG: Under this segment, the company manufactures lighting, fans (ceiling fans, table fans, pedestal fans, wall fans, exhaust fans, air circulator fans, etc.), luminaires, switches, switchgear and several other domestic appliances, such as water heaters, irons, coolers, etc. This business was started in FY 2014. They offer a wide range of products at different price points. Through their brand, Hohm, they offer LED Lighting and smart automation solutions for fans and ACs. 
  • International Business: Under this segment, the company delivers the best electric products and solutions to international customers.

  • Silvan Innovation Labs Private Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of Polycab India Limited is a technology company that provides cutting-edge automation offerings for offices, homes, banks, hotels, retail outlets, etc. 
  • Polycab Australia Pty Limited: This is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company that is involved in the business of trading electrical wires and cables, consumer electrical goods and optical fibre cables.  
  • Polycab Support Force Private Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of Polycab India Limited offers staffing solutions.
