About DCM Shriram

History of DCM Shriram Limited

Incorporated in 1989, DCM Shriram Limited is involved in the business of manufacturing fertiliser, cement, sugar and ethanol, trade agri-inputs and co-generation of power.

In 1990, DCM Shriram was established after the DCM Group was divided into three separate entities. In 1991, they went public and got listed on the stock exchanges. In 1995, the company commissioned Shriram Alkali & Chemicals at Bharuch, Gujarat. This was followed by the establishment of their first sugar manufacturing unit in Ajbapur in 1997. In 2003, the company entered the business of Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (UPVC) doors and windows.

In 2006, they established new sugar manufacturing units at Hariawan and Loni and also expanded their existing manufacturing unit at Ajbapur. In 2008, they expanded their unit at Bharuch and also set up a 55 MW coal-based power plant. In 2017, DCM Shriram started a distillery at their Hariawan unit.

In 2018, the company initiated the Cane Crushing and 5000 TCD expansion, Co-Gen Power, and 30 MW at the Hariawan Unit, along with the commissioning of a 168 TPD Chlor-Alkali expansion in Kota and a 60 TPD Aluminium Chloride plant in Bharuch. In 2019, they commissioned a 332 TPD Chlor Alkali expansion in Bharuch and established a second Distillery at Ajbapur with a 66 MW Power Plant in Kota. In 2022, they expanded their units, including the SBP expansion project in Kota, a country liquor bottling plant at Hariawan, and the commissioned Water Soluble Fertilisers, Bio Plants and Grain Distillery.

As of March 2023, DCM Shriram Limited had 11 manufacturing plants in India and 1 international unit in the Philippines. They cater their products and services all over the country and 60 countries in the world.

Business Segments of DCM Shriram Limited 

There are three primary businesses of the company, as follows:

  • Agri-Rural Business: In this segment, the company offers research-backed agri-inputs, viz. hybrid seeds, speciality plant nutrition and crop care chemicals. Under this, Shriram Bioseed Business is involved in the R&D of hybrid seeds, seed production and processing and Shriram Fertilisers and Chemicals is engaged in the manufacturing of Urea. The company also manufactures sugar, ethanol, and bagasse-based cogen power plants.
  • Chlor-Vinyl Business: Under this segment, the company is involved in the manufacturing of Soda, Aluminum Chloride, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Calcium Carbide, Stable Bleaching Powder and PVC resins.
  • Value Added Business: Under this segment, the company manufactures UPVC and aluminium doors and windows.

As of March 31, 2023, a few subsidiaries of DCM Shriram Limited are as follows:

  • DCM Shriram Aqua Foods Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company is engaged in agricultural and related business.
  • Fenesta India Limited: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company is engaged in the manufacturing and supplying of UPVC and aluminium doors and windows.
  • DCM Shriram Foundation: This wholly-owned subsidiary of the company works with farmers and the farming community to help them with their productivity and profitability.
