Technical & Derivatives Report

Sensex (35470) / Nifty (10762)
Exhibit 1: Nifty Daily Chart
Yesterday, it was not the kind of start one would have wanted
especially after witnessing a good tail-end buying on Friday to
reclaim the 10800 mark. During the first half, index traded mildly
in the red, but the selling pressure aggravated as the day
progressed and there was complete destruction seen in the
broader market. If we compare index’s close with its previous
close, the picture still does not look that bad; but, if we try to
analyze it meticulously, the real damage was clearly seen in
individual stocks.
Although, Nifty is still trading well above its crucial supports of
10700 - 10650, yesterday’s correction was hard to digest after
having a fantastic close for the previous week. The global
uncertainty has once again started to spoil traders’ sentiment
across the globe. Today, it would be crucial for our market to
hold the support area of 10700 - 10650 in order to maintain the
safety zone. A violation of this would result into an extended
weakness in days to come. However, since its a major level, we
do not want to talk of negativity till the time its not broken on a
closing basis. On the upside, 10800 followed by 10835 would be
seen as immediate hurdles.

Resistance 1 - 10800
Support 2 - 10650
Resistance 2 - 10835
Nifty Bank Outlook - (26610)
Exhibit 2: Nifty Bank Daily Chart
Post ending last week at the resistance of 26767, the Nifty Bank
index opened marginally negative yesterday. The index clearly
lacked a follow-up buying which was much required after Friday's
positive momentum. The index traded in a narrow range and
ended the day with a loss of over half a percent.
Recently, we had seen that the Nifty Bank index had breached a
rising trend line support on the daily chart. However, there was no
follow-up weakness seen and thus we had anticipated that the
index would not correct much and would rather trade in a range.
Similarly, the index this time showed signs of a breakout from the
resistance end on Friday. However, a follow-up buying was not
seen yesterday which indicates that the index is still in a
consolidation phase. Hence, short-term traders should continue to
focus on a stock-specific approach within the sector until we see
any confirmation of any directional move. The intraday supports
for the index are placed around 26500 and 26360 whereas
resistances are seen around 26740 and 26805.
Key Levels
Support 1 - 26500
Resistance 1 - 26740
Support 2 - 26360
Resistance 2 - 26805
