Indian markets are likely to open flat tracking global indices and SGX Nifty.

U.S. stocks moved significantly higher late in the trading day on Tuesday. The major averages climbed firmly into positive territory after turning lower over the course of the previous session. The Dow Jones soared by 1.8 percent to 24874 and the Nasdaq jumped 1.6 percent to 7161.

U.K. shares bucked a weak trend across Europe to edge higher on Tuesday after oil giant BP Plc posted its strongest quarterly profit in five years helped by higher crude prices and production from the rampup of major projects. The benchmark FTSE 100 was up 0.2 percent at 7012.

On domestic front Indian shares ended a choppy session modestly lower on Tuesday with pharma and energy companies pacing the decliners as investors fretted about an escalating trade dispute between the United States and China. The BSE Sensex was down by 0.5% to 33891.
