Indian Share Market

The share market in India is mainly dominated by 2 exchanges - the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Located in Mumbai, the BSE is the world’s 11th largest stock exchange(on which parameters?), (update to 2014). It was established in 1875, and today is not only the oldest stock exchange in India, but is also one of the oldest in Asia. Today it has over 5000 companies listed, making it the No. 1 exchange in the world, in terms of listed members (is it companies or members, members or trading members mean brokers in our industry). In terms of transactions, the BSE is the fifth most active in electronic trading systems. It is also the first centralised exchange based trading system in the world that allows investors from anywhere in the world to trade via the BSE.
Like the BSE, the NSE is also located in the financial capital of India - Mumbai. Established in 1992 as a demutualised electronic exchange, the NSE, has more than two lakh trading terminals and operates on a completely automated screen-based trading system. The NSE, which was started by a band of leading financial institutions in India, offers more than just share market trading; (clearing & settlement is done by DPs & clearing corporation). Both, domestic and global companies and institutions hold stake in the NSE.
Everyday millions of people from all over the country and world are constantly tuned into the share market to keep up with changing stocks, so as to increase profits. The share market in India offers a variety of ways to increase your earnings. These include a number of investment options like equity investments and trading, , derivatives trading with futures and options.
Intraday trading is one of the most popular (intraday trading is not investment) as it deals with the live share market. It requires you to constantly monitor the market situation, along with keeping track of news and information regarding the changing stock market as it can affect prices. Intraday trading includes instant buying and selling, depending on the volatility in the markets.
Generally the investment principle of high risk high gains, low risk low gains applies to the stock markets. This is one of the main reasons that many people turn to seasoned professionals to help them make better decisions for buying and selling in the share market. Understanding the share market is vital to your investment strategy. In addition to this, these professionals also guide you in decision making based on share market trends, fluctuations and the best times to buy and sell shares.
