FIIs continue buying

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 594.60 crore on Friday, 17 February 2012, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 4095 crore and gross sales Rs 3500.40 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 600.40 crore into the secondary equity markets on 17 February 2012, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 4095 crore and gross sales Rs 3494.60 crore. The BSE Sensex had jumped 135.36 points, or 0.75% to settle at 18,289.35 on that day, its highest closing level since 1 August 2011.

There was an outflow of Rs 5.80 crore from the category primary market & others on Friday, 17 February 2012.

FIIs have bought shares worth Rs 14461.60 crore in February 2012 so far (till 17 February 2012). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 10357.70 crore in January 2012.

FIIs have bought shares worth Rs 24819.20 crore in calendar 2012 so far (till 17 February 2012). They had offloaded shares worth a net Rs 2714.20 crore in 2011.

There are a total of 1,779 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
